I have 4 Anthropology tests this week & my spring break isn’t until the end of March. I wanted to get a bunch of contests updated before I posted a new blog but I guess I couldn’t but I got 2 new contests up & running! Not much to comment on so I hope some of you participate in the contests! Georgina & are almost ready to launch our forum! The only reason why it’s taken us so long is because we’re kind of perfectionists & we want everything to look great before we tell people about it. Plus, we’ve been busy. As school began I noticed an increase in petitioners since last semester as I sat comfortably in all 6 of my classes that I’ve registered for. During my first semester of college, I had absolutely no pity for those who were petitioning. I thought they were a bunch of lazy, irresponsible students that didn’t sign up for classes on time because they waited until the last minute. This year, I definitely think differently.

Although most are petitioning because they weren’t responsible enough to sign up for their classes on time, there are many reasons for the increase in the amount of petitioners. California has accumulated a debt equivalent to Cameroon’s–a small country–GDP. Because of this, our governor has decided to cut the budget on our educational programs which means smaller classes, less classes, & more petitioners.

Whether it’s because they forgot to pay for their classes or an influx of freshmen, I’ve grown to pity a lot of petitioners–not the lazy ones, that’s their fault–& I’m also more aware of the growing problem in a suffering economy–money. It’s hard to keep schools running efficiently if we don’t have enough money to pay the professors, teachers, faculty, & the cost it takes to actually keep the lights on.

People are terrified to take student loans for fear of not knowing whether or not they can pay it back in the future. I would be too. Many take a year or two off school to make money but it is difficult for them to save the money they need for school because they have to pay for gas, food, & bills. For each additional year they work, the lower the chance they’ll want to return to school.

I believe in public schools & I believe that everyone deserves an education despite their lack of money. It’s not like everyone’s parents can put their kids through graduate school let alone undergraduate school. I understand that it costs a lot of money to educate someone but we would be worse off without an educated population. Who will be our doctors, lawyers, inventors if so little of us have the means to pay for an education?

It’s disheartening to see people trapped in this vicious cycle of not being able to get a better job because they don’t have the money to put themselves through college to obtain one. I feel that if we found a way to make college more affordable, we’d have more workers to boost the economy. Nothing is ever that simple but a healthy, happy, & plentiful workforce equals a more efficient economy.

However, this problem is a little bit more predominant in the United States than other countries that pay so readily pay for your education the day you’re born. A problem that Europeans are experiencing happens to be the opposite–way too many educated people & not enough jobs.

Should we educate everyone? Does everyone deserve an education? Should the government be responsible for education? Who deserves to be educated? What gives you the right to say that they are undeserving or deserving for that manner? Should money be an issue when it comes to education? Isn’t it ridiculous that not having money will hinder you from getting a proper education? So many questions, so many answers, yet so little solutions.

What Happened Last Night?

I just bought a reseller account from my hosting company. It just took a really long time for the nameservers to propagate because Optinom is terribly slow. That’s why my “account was suspended”. But it really wasn’t. I just had to switch the nameservers. I so can’t wait until I find the time to transfer my domain over to NameCheap…where it takes 10 minutes to propagate versus the 4+ hours by Optinom.

I have an absolutely horrible headache right now but it’s not going to stop me from announcing the finalized re-opening of Tiffany Bee! I’ve been re-coding the layout since I lost it when that HORRIBLE host of mine ran away with my money. Good thing I only spent $10 on hosting with that jerk. But it was also my fault for not backing it up (but I honestly thought I did).

Since I got really good feedback with “Ma Belle Vie” I added another day you guys could follow from morning ’til night. Feel free to leave comments on any of the posts. I had to manually restore the posts & I couldn’t recover any of the comments some of you left me.

A Letter to Anyone

A long time ago, I tried to create a confessions page but I got lazy & never did. I felt that it was a little unnecessary & that my confessions would be kind of silly. Despite my failure to launch “my confessions”, I decided to start “A Letter to Anyone” instead.

All you have to do is just leave a comment that starts off with “Dear person’s identity here,” & then write your little letter to them. You don’t have to actually put the person’s name. You could just say “person I don’t really like” or “guy that broke my heart” or “girl that stole my parking spot”. Write a little shout out, complaint, letter, or WHATEVER to anyone. Say what ever is on your mind. It doesn’t have to be super long, it can be as long as you’d like. It can be sentimental, witty, absolutely hilarious, or angry. Any sort of emotion you feel, let it out!

STFU. You are so incredibly annoying. Has it ever occurred to you that you should think before you speak? You have some serious diarrhea of the mouth. No one thinks you’re smart. No one cares if you don’t know the answer to one of the professor’s questions, you don’t need to tell the guy that answered it that you knew the answer but you learned about it in high school so you were iffy about responding. There’s a fine line between participating & not being able to shut your mouth. No one knows the answer to EVERYTHING the professor asks, that’s why we’re taking the class. What is with your need to answer his rhetorical questions though..seriously?

NEWSFLASH: Cosmology DOES NOT have to do with facial war paint. You were thinking of cosmetology which has to do with cosmetics! Cosmology is the study of the universe. Cosmo = universe. Logy = the science, study, or philosophy of. ZOMG YOU CAN’T BE THAT DENSE but then again you look like you take steroids, you beefcake.
