Finals are this week, I shouldn’t even really be doing this right now, but it’s 1:30 AM & I obviously can’t focus for much longer so vote for the best icon! Before I go off to bed, I wanted to share this with some of you because it’s pretty much 99.9% accurate: What Your E-Mail Address Says About Your Computer Skills.
For those of you who are about to apply to college or are going to get into college & are excited about getting your @college.edu domains, stop making up random screen names such as unicorngirl7@college.edu. No one is going to take you seriously. Use your first & last name, try to avoid numbers, & boom, you look like a mature professional &/or college student. Might also help if you knew how to type correctly too. I’m not just talking about your grammar & spelling, I’m talking about your ability to use all 10 of your fingers to type instead of “hunting & pecking”.

HAHAHA I remember you posting this up on Skeletons. Hilarious. I apply to the first two, got rid of the next two, and never had an AOL account.
I’m not too fond of my last name, especially because it’s the main factor that contributes to assumptions as to what ethnicity I am, but also because it’s pronounced differently from the way it’s spelled in English (thanks, dad). So, I just have my first name and another I’ve used a very long time on the Internet that essentially is my first name again.

Okay, wrong again. Pretend the antler-lookin’ things are katanas. I KNOW YOU’RE GOING TO ROCK THEM SO HARD, THEY’LL BE jizzing. Inappropriate.
The UCLA admissions decisions came out yesterday – my Facebook feed is in uproar. Sadly, my very good friend was denied. 
She deserves it the most out of the fake assholes who got in…and my other friend as well, although it was a blind shot for her (which she acknowledges). I don’t think my closest friend knows yet – she comes back from camping tomorrow, I’m crossing my fingers.

HUZZAH, people will be under the impression that I’m skilled and capable because of my email. The only unfortunate aspect of having an email on your own domain is having to repeat and spell it out every time someone asks for it. No one ever seems to get “flamora” out of what I say on the first go…and no one ever spells Gabi the same way as I do either. Ah well. At least I look fancy. I always have to hold back the laughter when someone tells me their email is “bballgurlie209@yahoo.com” or something along those lines. Was that even cool when we were younger? I don’t think so.

Hahaha it’s okay, at least your domain is super short & to the point. Good thing I don’t give away this e-mail address to anyone, just my g-mail one or my college one.
Flamora..SOUND IT OUT, people can be kind of stupid. HAHA no, it was never cool when we were younger. Although I did have some stupid screen names, regret them all.

It’s completely true, I use Hotmail & I have issues with spyware & all that computer programming stuff. The last time I used Gmail they deleted all my e-mails (including all the important ones) & I could never find them in the trash, spam, junk, etc. Now I just use Yahoo for the Y. Messenger.
Oh, I hate it when people make those random screen names. 
When I was little my usernames were “hjhjgkjkcfjkjkc” on Neopets & other gaming sites. I think it’s okay to use random-like ones when you only give it out to your family &/or real-life friends, like ‘Sockfoot’ or ‘Awesomebaconsocks’.

I don’t have an @college.edu e-mail, but I have an @tvcc.edu one. …Unless you were intending for “college” to be the domain name, and if so, that proves just how tired and out of it I am!

I created a new e-mail account for school @gmail.com because I am able to check my gmail account on my phone. I do have numbers in it, but it is “91″, which is the year I was born. It’s nothing too crazy.

Would definitely agree about the usage of usernames! Although, for some schools, like mine, we’re not allowed to pick what it is. Which can be nice. I know some schools will make it amanda.bynes@college.edu, which just automatically looks much better. But heal1001 is what I’m stuck with at my current school, which kinda sucks. Yeah… random rant you probably care nothing about ;P

My email for college, is my first initial and last initial than a bunch of numbers. I hate it. They automatically give us the email, but it’s all good because I rarely use it, unless professors but since everyone’s the same format it doesn’t really matter. My usernames and screen names are usually stupid because I made most of them up when I was little but nobody important gets them. My email for comcast is my first initial and full last name. That’s my “Proffesional” email. I use gmail, aim, and comcast. They all have different uses.

I need to go on The Oatmeal more often. I’ve had a website email ever since 2006, and I do still use Hotmail occasionally and mostly for MSN. I don’t want to change it because it’ll be too much trouble to add everyone back. I have been using Gmail for a while and I like that. ;D Some people still have really ridiculous email addresses or use them for work purposes, which I think is silly. I mean, I know mine is ridiculous but I don’t use it for anything but MSN. 
Our university makes our emails for us. Mine is Georgina.C.Luhur – it’s so annoying. ;_; Gets directed to my Gmail anyway.

Almost lost my Snapple. That post was so funny. It was also quite accurate. I have some gmail addresses and a dozen of my own site email addresses, so does that makes me a super programmer ?
It’s funny you should say that about school email addresses. They don’t let us choose our e-mail address. It’s always firstlast@college.edu and if I’m not using that one, I use my first.last@gmail email.

I work in a corporation where it helps to find the unemployed suitable jobs. If i count the number of times i’ve seen funny emails on their CV – oh gosh i’ve lost count but it’s so frequent! :/ Can you imagine an employer typing down an email such as some “sexyteenager@hotmail” or “lovelyangel” T_T …

Sadly, none of my emails, except for my skype username and site email, look mature. I’m too lazy to make a new account and go through all the fuss just to look a bit more grown up haha. Well, maybe in severe cases I do..
My email addresses are usually pretty mature and simple, lol. I also have a special one just for college stuff and it’s just my first and last name. My best friend had this crazy one and she always got embarrassed when she had to fill in official forms with it.

Haha, YES. My mom is making me pick my college this week and I have no clue where I want to go, much less WHAT I want to study. At the moment I an Undeclared. I got into 10 out of the 11 schools I applied to. And I have to down to five choices (which is four too many). *sigh*
(oh and I wasn’t planning on doing anything silly like that! I don’t understand it either)
Haha funny. XD I made an email for my domain, but I don’t really use it unless it’s for site related issues. Other than that, Gmail is my personal account (I used to have Hotmail but I switched because I had too much spam).
As far as my @college.edu email, I didn’t have a say and choice in the email. They automatically made it my name. o_o Unfortunately, it has numbers in it so my email is kelsey.graham001@college.edu. :U Since I never log into the thing, I actually don’t know what the college.edu even is.
I love The Oatmeal though. I’ve wasted so much time on that site…

It’s so true, though. I had emails like that but I made a couple of more professional ones because it was awkward writing them down on important documents. >.<
It's also awkward when in a store they need your email and you have to either say it aloud or spell it out for them and then they read it back to you. :/
